This was so easy and the meat was very tender! I got it from my Fix-it and Forget-it cookbook. I have not had many versions of goulash to compare it to-but this one is tasty.
I know the authentic type does not contains tomatoes, but this may be more kid-friendly.

If you would like it less sweet, use tomato sauce in place of the ketchup. My teen liked it the way it was.

Ingredients

beef chuck, cubed (or use stew beef)
1
onions, sliced
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
1/2 c
ketchup
**or use tomato sauce for less sweetness
2 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp
brown sugar
1/2 tsp
salt
2 tsp
paprika, sweet mild
1/2 tsp
dry mustard
1 c
cold water
2 Tbsp
dry onion soup mix
1/2 c
water
1/4 c
flour

How to Make Crockpot Hungarian Goulash

Step-by-Step

  • 1Toss the beef with the onion soup to coat, brown the beef in a tad of oil. Place in slow cooker with onion.
  • 2Combine all the remaining ingredients except the
    flour and 1/2 cup water. Pour over meat.
  • 3Cover and cook on high for 4 hours; or low 8 hours.
  • 4Dissolve flour in the 1/2 cup water. Stir into meat mixture. Cook on high until thickened; about 10 minutes. Serve over noodles.
