Ingredients
- 1 - onion, finely chopped
- 1 - garlic clove, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups milk
- 4 - potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
How To Make creamed ground beef over mashed potatoes

Step 1Put the onions, garlic, and ground beef in a large skillet.

Step 2Cook until ground beef is no longer pink.

Step 3Drain excess fat, then add salt and peppers.

Step 4Remove to a separate bowl.

Step 5Melt butter in the skillet.

Step 6Add flour, salt and pepper.

Step 7Cook, stirring constantly over low heat for about two minutes.

Step 8Do not allow to burn.

Step 9Gradually add milk, stirring constantly after each addition and allowing to boil before adding more.

Step 10This results in a smooth sauce.

Step 11When all milk has been added, continue to stir constantly and bring to a boil.

Step 12Allow to boil for one minute or until sauce is thick, continuing to stir.

Step 13Remove from heat and stir into beef mixture.

Step 14Prepare mashed potatoes: Place potatoes in a pot with enough water to cover by about 1/2 inch.

Step 15Cook until potatoes are tender.

Step 16Pour off cooking water (or save for a terrific addition to breads).

Step 17Add butter and milk (or cream).

Step 18Mash to desired consistency.

Step 19Serve ground beef mixture spooned over the mashed potatoes.

Step 20Variations: Add one teaspoon of your favorite spice blend to make a new and exciting variation.
