How to Make Country Mushroom Steak

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees F. In roasting pan or heavy cast iron dutch oven, pour oil and heat in oven. While oil is heating, mix cream of mushroom soup and milk well. Wash mushrooms. Cut steak into four to six pieces, wash and pat dry. Add flour, salt and pepper in a pie dish, mixing well, then bread each side of the steak pices. Add the steak pieces to the hot dutch oven, or roasting pan, and place back into oven with lid on to braise the meat for about 5 minutes each side. Remove pan from oven, pour over mushrooms, and milk and mushroom soup. Re-cover pan and place back in oven. Bake for 1 1/2 hours. The gravy from the mushroom soup and milk is great over rice or mashed potatoes.
