Easy and old fashion delicious. This recipe has been around the family for about forty years. We don't know where it came from but I come from a family of southern cooks.

Ingredients

  • 1 - boneless round steak - 1/2 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 - beaten egg
  • 1/4 cup wesson oil

  • 1 1/2 cups milk

How To Make connie's country fried steak

  • Step 1
    Cut steak into 4 pieces
  • Step 2
Coat steaks with flour, salt and pepper. I usually put the salt, pepper and flour into a plastic bag, add steak to coat.
  • Step 3
    Dip steak into egg
  • Step 4
Dip steak into flour (save remaining flour)
  • Step 5
Heat oil in skillet over medium heat
  • Step 6
When oil is hot, add steak and brown on both sides
  • Step 7
    Add water and onion
  • Step 8
Cover and simmer for one hour
  • Step 9
    Drain excess fat from skillet
  • Step 10
    Remove steak from skillet
  • Step 11
Add 1/4 cup seasoned flour mixed with milk
  • Step 12
Stir until mixture comes to a boil and thickens.
  • Step 13
    Serve gravy over steak
