I made this during my brief hiatus from Just a pinch. Without a doubt the most flavorful steak I've ever made...I served it atop Roasted red pepper risotto. And topped it, with Buttermil-Tumeric onion straws. And balsamic reduction. This is the headlining picture in my portfolio, and for good reason. I hope you all enjoy!!

Ingredients

  • MESQUITE SPICE RUB

  • 1/2 tsp
    kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    chipotle chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground sage
  • 1/8 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground mustard
  • 1/4 tsp
    pimenton (smoked paprika)
  • WET INGREDIENTS

  • ·
    brewed coffee (black)
  • 1 Tbsp
    white vinegar
  • 1
    8-12oz sirloin steak

How to Make Coffee Mesquite Marinated Steak

Step-by-Step

  1. If you have a Mesquite spice blend you know and love, (McCormick, Lawrys, etc...) Use that! This one is just one I particularly like :)

    Mix together spices until thoroughly combined. Then add the vinegar and enough brewed coffee to make a thickish mixture, Not too much that its all liquid, You'll know the right consistency
  2. Rub the mixture on the steak and allow to marinate for at least 4 hours. Overnight preferred
  3. Grill until desired internal done-ness and enjoy!

    (It goes really well with balsamic reduction, I promise!)
