coffee mesquite marinated steak

I made this during my brief hiatus from Just a pinch. Without a doubt the most flavorful steak I've ever made...I served it atop Roasted red pepper risotto. And topped it, with Buttermil-Tumeric onion straws. And balsamic reduction. This is the headlining picture in my portfolio, and for good reason. I hope you all enjoy!!

Ingredients

  • MESQUITE SPICE RUB

  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon pimenton (smoked paprika)
  • WET INGREDIENTS
  • - brewed coffee (black)
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 - 8-12oz sirloin steak

How To Make coffee mesquite marinated steak

  • Step 1
If you have a Mesquite spice blend you know and love, (McCormick, Lawrys, etc...) Use that! This one is just one I particularly like :) Mix together spices until thoroughly combined. Then add the vinegar and enough brewed coffee to make a thickish mixture, Not too much that its all liquid, You'll know the right consistency
  • Step 2
Rub the mixture on the steak and allow to marinate for at least 4 hours. Overnight preferred
  • Step 3
Grill until desired internal done-ness and enjoy! (It goes really well with balsamic reduction, I promise!)
