Add to Grocery List

  • 3-5 lb
    beef chuck roast
  • 1
envelope of dry onion soup mix
  • 1 can(s)
    cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • ·
    salt, pepper and garlic powder

How to Make Classic Pot Roast

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat over to 250 degrees. Place the vegetable oil in a dutch oven over a medium high heat. Pat the roast dry then sprinkle salt, pepper and garlic powder on both sides of the chuck roast; rubbing it in. Place in dutch oven and brown well on all sides.
  2. Turn off the heat, add the mushroom soup and dry onion soup mix and a 1/2 cup of water (no need to stir). Cover the dutch oven and place it in the preheated oven for approximately 2 1/2 hours. We serve ours with mashed potatoes and a vegetable or salad. Enjoy!
