Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 lb
    beef stew meat, cubed
  • 2 Tbsp
    oil
  • 1 c
    apple cider
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp
    thyme
  • 2 large
    carrots, cut in 1
  • 1
    celery rib, chopped
  • 1 large
    potato, cubed and peeled
  • 1
    medium onion, sliced

How to Make Cider Beef Stew

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix flour, salt, and pepper and add beef and toss to coat.
  2. In a large saucepan, brown beef in oil.
  3. Add cider, water, vinegar and thyme; bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour and 45 minutes or until the meat is tender.
  5. Add carrots, celery, potato and onion; return to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
