  • 1 lb
  • 3/4 c
    chopped celery
  • 3/4 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 1/4 c
    boiling water
  • 1/2 c
    rice, uncooked
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 can(s)
    chicken and rice soup
  • 4 oz
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 tsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 1/2 c
    chow mein noodles

How to Make Chow Mein Casserole


  1. Cook and stir hamburger, celery and onion until hamburger is light brown, then drain.
  2. Pour water on rice and add salt in greased 2 quart casserole.
  3. Stir in hamburger, soup, mushrooms, sugar, soy sauce and butter.
  4. Cover and cook in 350 oven for 30 minutes; stir.
  5. Cook uncovered for 30 minutes longer.
  6. Stir in noodles, serve immediately.
