chow mein burgers

I have no idea where this came from. My mom used to make them when she wanted a quick dinner. (it takes less then 20 minutes from start to finish). It is a great twist on sloppy joes and tastes ready good.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 16 oz cans chopped suey vegetables, drained
  • 1/3 cup cold water
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 8 - hamburger buns
  • 3 oz cans chow mein noodles
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch

How To Make chow mein burgers

  • Step 1
    In medium skillet, combine ground beef and chopped onion; cook till meat is lightly browned and onion is tender. Drain and return to skillet.
  • Step 2
    Add chop suey vegetables.
  • Step 3
    Stir water and soy sauce into cornstarch; stir into beef mixture
  • Step 4
    Cook 1 to 2 minutes, stirring to coat vegetables and meat.
  • Step 5
    Spoon mixture onto bottom halves of toasted hamburger buns.
  • Step 6
    Crumble a few chow mein noodles over each sandwich
  • Step 7
    Cover with top halves of hamburger buns and Serve.
