My mother made chili similar to this when I was young. We were from a small town, so chili itself was considered an 'international dish' when compared to the typical fare of fried chicken and my Aunt Mollie's potatos augratin...ANYway, this is the recipe that has evolved after many years of adaptation to our taste buds. It is THE recipe that every young bride whose young hubby has been a guest at our table. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed serving it.

low fat ground beef...93/7 is great!
1 large
onion (white or yellow) chopped
jalapenos, fresh
1 can(s)
tomatos with chilis (rotel)
2 can(s)
chili beans (ranch style original)
1 can(s)
black beans
2 can(s)
kidney beans, dark
1 tsp
granulated garlic (not garlic powder)
1 tsp
granulated onion (not onion powder)
2 Tbsp
chili powder
1 Tbsp
tony chacere's cajun seasoning
5 clove
garlic, minced
can beef consumme (not beef broth)
sour cream
elbow macaroni, cooked -or-
tortilla chips

How to Make CHILI - Man pleasin stuff...


  • 1Deep, heavy-duty pot works well with this recipe.
  • 2Over medium/high heat, brown your ground meat with onion, garlic and seasonings.
  • 3Put your largest collander in your sink. Add black beans and kidney beans and drain your beans. DO NOT RINSE YOUR CHILI BEANS :-) Rinse with water - but do not wash them completely.
  • 4When the onions are clear, add rinsed beans, your chili beans with gravy, tomatoes, beef consumme.
  • 5I cook this for only 30 minutes - then serve it with cheeses over either macaroni or tortilla chips.
