while growing up, my husband's mother worked nights. His older sister used to make this for dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 large can chili with beans
  • 1 - 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 - stalks celery, diced
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • - Chili powder, to taste
  • - Grated Cheese
  • - Fritos, original

How To Make chili-frito casserole

  • Step 1
    Brown ground beef, celery and onion; drain. Add chili and chili powder. Simmer until heated through, adding a small amount of liquid, if necessary.
  • Step 2
    Spray casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Step 3
    In prepared casserole dish, layer meat mixture, cheese, then fritos. Repeat, ending with fritos.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350° until heated through and bubbly, about 20 minutes.
