butter

green pepper, diced

kidney beans, rinsed and drained
16 oz
tomatoes, drained and diced
8 oz
tomato sauce

minced garlic clove
1 small
bay leaf
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
pepper
1/4 tsp
cumin
1/4 tsp
dried basil
1/4 tsp
oregano, crushed
2-3 tsp
chili powder

How to Make Chili

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a heavy pot melt butter.
  • 2Crumble meat into pot.
  • 3Cook a few minutes until meat is no longer pink.
  • 4Remove.
  • 5To the pot, add onion and pepper.
  • 6Cook a few minutes, stirring, until vegetables are soft.
  • 7Add meat.
  • 8Stir to combine.
  • 9Add remaining ingredients.
  • 10Heat to a boil.
  • 11Reduce heat.
  • 12Cook, stirring occasionally, at least 45 minutes.
  • 13Remove bay leaf.
  • 14Serve immediately.
