4 tsp
pepper
4 tsp
salt
milk
4 Tbsp
fat
4 Tbsp
unbleached all-purpose flour
1 qt
milk
"just a pinch" of salt
"just a pinch" of pepper

How to Make Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy

Step-by-Step

  • 1Tenderize round steak. Dip in milk and then flour, salt and pepper to taste.
  • 2Fry in deep fat at approximately 375 degrees until golden brown.
  • 3After steak is done, pour off fat leaving about 4 tablespoons in pan.
  • 4Add 4 tablespoons flour.
  • 5Stir until smooth.
  • 6Add 1 quart milk.
  • 7Stir and cook until thickened for steak gravy.
