Cheesesteak Sandwiches

Jennifer Bass

After a trip to Philadelphia a few years ago, I was hooked. While I can't find the type of rolls/hoagie buns they use in Philly, these still taste great!

    onions, sliced
  • 4-6 oz
    velveeta cheese or cheese whiz
  • ·
salt, pepper, garlic salt, to taste
  • 4
    hoagie buns or something similar

How to Make Cheesesteak Sandwiches

  1. Preheat large non-stick skillet to medium-high heat. Lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. If using Velveeta cheese, cube the cheese and set aside.
  3. Season the onions and peppers with salt, pepper, and just a dash of garlic salt. Place vegetables in the skillet and let them cook down just a little, about 5-8 minutes.
  4. Season meat with salt, pepper, and garlic salt, to taste.
  5. Add the meat to the skillet with the vegetables and cook until the meat is almost no longer pink (medium rare).
  6. Carefully drain any liquid from the skillet and return to stove.
  7. Add the cheese and stir until melted.
  8. Add the cheesy beef mixture to the buns and enjoy! If desired, toast the buns prior to serving.
