cheesesteak sandwiches
After a trip to Philadelphia a few years ago, I was hooked. While I can't find the type of rolls/hoagie buns they use in Philly, these still taste great!

Ingredients
- 1 pound flat iron steak, sliced thin against the grain
- 1/2 large red bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 large orange bell pepper, sliced
- 1 large green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 4-6 ounces velveeta cheese or cheese whiz
- - salt, pepper, garlic salt, to taste
- 4 - hoagie buns or something similar
How To Make cheesesteak sandwiches
-
Step 1Preheat large non-stick skillet to medium-high heat. Lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray.
-
Step 2If using Velveeta cheese, cube the cheese and set aside.
-
Step 3Season the onions and peppers with salt, pepper, and just a dash of garlic salt. Place vegetables in the skillet and let them cook down just a little, about 5-8 minutes.
-
Step 4Season meat with salt, pepper, and garlic salt, to taste.
-
Step 5Add the meat to the skillet with the vegetables and cook until the meat is almost no longer pink (medium rare).
-
Step 6Carefully drain any liquid from the skillet and return to stove.
-
Step 7Add the cheese and stir until melted.
-
Step 8Add the cheesy beef mixture to the buns and enjoy! If desired, toast the buns prior to serving.
