A great cheeseburger without the bottom bun which means fewer carbs, right? We loved this, and I think I loved it the most since I could of, but didn't, eat the whole thing. Everything about it tasted like a cheeseburger!

We fell in love with this delicious cheeseburger casserole and think your family will too. It tastes just like a cheeseburger sloppy joe but without the mess. Everyone will be asking for seconds! A simple weeknight dinner option.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 3/4 cup dill pickle, chunky diced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can crescent rolls, 8 oz.
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

How To Make cheeseburger casserole

  • Browning beef in a skillet.
    Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Brown the ground beef and drain.
  • Sauteeing onions and garlic in a skillet.
    Step 2
    In the same skillet, add olive oil. Saute the onion and garlic.
  • Ketchup, mustard, pickle, and water added to the skillet with the beef.
    Step 3
    Return beef to skillet with onions. Mixi well. Season with salt and pepper. Next add ketchup, mustard, pickle, and water; mix well. Simmer 3-4 minutes.
  • Beef pouring into a casserole dish with cheese sprinkled on top.
    Step 4
    In a sprayed 9x13 baking dish, layer meat mixture and smooth out. Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Crescent roll dough spread on top with sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
    Step 5
    Unroll crescent rolls over the top, pinching seams together. The outside edges may not be covered all the way but that is perfectly fine. Brush with beaten egg and then sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Casserole baking in the oven.
    Step 6
    Bake at 375 degrees 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
