We usually serve this with tortillas and make tacos. But you can serve it with Mexican rice and borracho beans. You can use shoulder or round steak also if you prefer. I have used stew meat on occasion.

Ingredients For carne guisada

  • 1 1/z lb
    boneless chuck steak
  • 1/4 c
    diced onion
  • 3 md
    tomatoes, diced small
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 c
    diced bell pepper
  • 1 c
    beef broth
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    cumin

How To Make carne guisada

    Cube the beef,

    Heat the oil in a skillet.
  • 3
    Add the beef, onion, bell pepper and garlic.

    Cook until beef is browned and veggies tender.

    Add flour and stir until blended well.
  • 6
    Add broth and tomatoes, salt, pepper and cumin. Stir to mix well.

    Cover and simmer for 45 minutes.

    Serve with flour tortillas.
