Just kind of tinkering around with the crockpot on this one, and it results in a mock beef stew type dish with a sweet tang of lime.

Ingredients

  • 32 ounces ground beef, thawed
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon minced onion
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 5 - large russet potatoes, cubed
  • 16 ounces pkg baby carrots
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup water

How To Make caribbean hamburg stew

  • Step 1
    mix salt and all the spices in bowl until blended. For the red pepper, add to taste if preferred. Add oil to spice mixture and stir to make a seasoning paste.
  • Step 2
    Stir in lime juice to spice mixture and blend well.
  • Step 3
    Mix spice mixture and hamburg together in bowl. Put meat in bottom of crock pot. Layer carrots, then layer peeled potatoes on top.
  • Step 4
    Mix soy sauce with water, then add to mixture in crockpot.
  • Step 5
    Set crockpot to high and timer to 5 hours, 30 minutes. Do not remove lid while cooking. Do stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  • Step 6
    When done, serve as you would beef stew or other dish.
