California Quick Casserole

2 tbsp. margarine
2 lbs. ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp. salt
pepper to taste
2 tsp. sugar
1 can tomato sauce, 15 oz
1 pkg. wide noodles, 8 oz
12 green onions, chopped
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 cups sour cream
nonstick cooking spray
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese


1Melt margarine in large skillet. Add ground beef. Brown, stirring til crumbly; drain. Stir in garlic, salt, pepper, sugar and tomato sauce. Simmer for 20 minutes.
2Fill large pan with water and bring to a boil. Add noodles. Cook, uncovered, til al dente; drain. Rinse with cold water.
3Mix the green onions, cream cheese and sour cream in a bowl.
4Coat a large baking dish with cooking spray. Layer noodles, sour cream mixture and ground beef mixture in baking dish. Top with Cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or til bubbling and heated through.
