Ingredients

4 lb
beef brisket
1 large
onion diced
2
carrots diced
2
ribs celery diced
1/4 tsp
freshly cracked black pepper
1 pkg
onion soup mix
1 c
water
1/3 c
ketchup
1 c
beer
1 Tbsp
flour

How to Make Bunyan's Diabetic Alehouse Brisket

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 550
  • 2Place meat, onion, carrot, & celery in roasting pan and brown uncovered in oven. About 15 mins
  • 3After browning lower oven to 300
  • 4Season meat with pepper.
  • 5Dissolve onion soup mix in water.
  • 6Mix ketchup and beer together and add to soup mixture.
  • 7Pour mixture over meat.
  • 8Cover pan with foil and roast for 3 hours or until tender.
  • 9Add flour to 1/4 cup pan drippings to make a paste.
  • 10Stir paste into gravy in pan.
  • 11To make a thicker gravy, add more flour.
  • 12Return pan to oven and continue roasting for an additional 30 minutes.
  • 13Slice meat across grain and serve with gravy.
