Bulgogi is a Korean dish that is made from thin slices of sirloin or other prime cuts of beef. Before cooking, the meat is marinated to enhance its flavor and tenderness. It is usually grilled...but I have friends that cook theirs in a skillet when in a pinch.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds roast (sirloin)
  • 1 large onion (1/2 sliced thin-1/2 grated)
  • 1/2 bunch green onions--chopped fine
  • 1/2 bunch green onions-sliced
  • 1 large garlic bulb--(about 8-10 cloves) grated on zester
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 small piece ginger root-using a zester to grate it)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

How To Make bulgogi

  • Step 1
Thinly slice roast (putting it in freezer to harden a bit will help to slice it thin. (I use my meat slicer..on a very thin setting) *I've heard of people asking to slice it at the store*
  • Step 2
Combine all ingredients---stirring well to make sure everything is blended well.
  • Step 3
Layer beef in a large container. Add the marinade over each layer. Cover; refrigerate overnight.
  • Step 4
Grill; it is very fine so it only needs to be on the grill a very short amount of time.
