Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef or 1 # ground beef and 1#ground pork
- 2 - onions,chopped
- 1 can (16oz)tomatoes
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons curry powder
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- - salt
- 2 - firm bananas,sliced
- 1 - apple,peeled,cored and diced
- 1 tablespoon apricot jam or 4 canned apricots,sliced
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
- - tomato juice for thinning
- - cooked rice for serving under the babootie
How To Make bobotie

Step 1Brown meat and drain off fat. Add onions,tomatoes(with juice),sugar,curry powder,vinegar,salt to taste,bananas,apple,jam or apricots,and almonds.

Step 2Simmer gently,stirring frequently,for 30 minutes Add tomato juice if too thick.

Step 3Serve over rice.
