Need dinner on the table in less than 30 minutes? A surprisingly easy meal using ground beef to create an inexpensive Thai style meal. Though there are a number of ingredients, there are few steps. If you like more heat, simply add more prepared curry paste.

Pan Fry


  • ·
    1 cup thinly sliced onion
  • ·
    2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ·
    1 lb (500 g) ground beef
  • ·
    1 teaspoon prepared thai red curry paste
  • ·
    1 cup tomato sauce (passata)
  • ·
    1/2 cup coconut milk
  • ·
    1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ·
    2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
  • ·
    1 tablespoon asian fish sauce
  • ·
    1 cup dry roasted peanuts
  • ·
    1 pepper (capsicum) sliced or diced
  • ·
    1 cup green beans
  • ·
    1 teaspoon coconut oil (for frying)

How to Make Betty's Thai Style Ground Beef


  1. Heat a large pan or skillet over a medium - high heat. Melt the oil in the pan.
  2. Gently cook the onions for 3-5 minutes. Add the garlic and fry until fragrant.
  3. Add in the beef and fry until browned.
  4. Add the curry paste and the tomato sauce (passata) until fragrant only a couple of minutes.
  5. Add the sugar, lime juice, fish sauce, peppers and beans and cook a further 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from the heat and top with the peanuts.
  7. Serve with white rice, jasmine rice or noodles (vermicelli is my favourite).
