I don't remember where I found this recipe, but my family loves it. We have taken it to church dinners and have had good comments. I'm always looking for new recipes for church functions.

  • 2 eggs
  • 2/3 c.
  • 3
    slices of bread torn into pieces
  • 1/2 c.
    chopped onions
  • 1/2 c.
    chopped bell pepper
  • 1 c.
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp.
  • 1 tsp.
    sage, dried
  • 1/4 tsp.
  • 1 1/2 lbs.
    ground beef

  • 1 tsp.
  • 1/2 c.
    tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c.
    brown sugar

How to Make Best Ever Meatloaf


  1. In a large bowl, beat eggs. Add milk and bread; let stand a few minutes or until bread absorbs the liquid.
  2. Stir in the onion, bell pepper, cheese, herbs and seasonings. Add beef; mix well.
  3. In a shallow baking pan, shape beef mixture into a 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 mins.
  4. Combine the topping ingredients; spoon some over meat loaf. Bake for about 30 mins. longer. Occasionally spooning some of the remaining topping over loaf. Let stand 10 mins. before serving.
