2 Tbspbutter, softened
2onions, finely chopped (1/2 cup)
2cloves garlic, minced or 1 tsp. garlic powder
1 pkg(8 ounces) fresh mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 lbsirloin, cut into thin strips, 1 inch wide by 2-1/2 inches long
1 can(s)(14 ounces) beef consomme
1/4 cburgundy wine (optional)
3 Tbsplemon juice
2 Tbspcold water or as needed
1(8 ounces) container sour cream
How to Make Best Beef Stroganoff
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Stir in onions and garlic, and cook until slightly tender.
Mix in mushrooms, and continue cooking for 2 minutes.
Place steak strips in saucepan and cook for about 1 minute.
Mix in Burgundy, consomme and lemon juice in it.
Bring all ingredients to a boil.
- Blend flour with cold water in a small bowl until smooth.
Reduce saucepan heat to low.
Pour flour mixture into saucepan slowly while stirring continuously.
Gradually return to boil while stirring rapidly, until sauce is is thick and smooth.
Cover saucepan and continue cooking 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat, let cool slightly and stir in sour cream.
