Serve over mashed potatoes, wide cooked pasta noodles or cooked rice... I have also done this in a slow cooker, thickening the sauce at the end and stirring in the sour cream at the end too. Equally delicious..

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 - lbs. cubed beef stew meat
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • 1 package sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon worchester sauce
  • - seasonings of your choice, i used parsley flakes, garlic powder, black pepper, pinch of sugar, sprinkling of dried onions, seasoned salt
  • - cornstarch & water mixed to thicken juice
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2-3 tablespoons flour

How To Make beef tips with mushrooms

  • Step 1
In large pan over medium high heat place olive oil. Dredge beef cubes with flour and a little salt & pepper, place in pan. Cook until light brown.
  • Step 2
Add remaining ingredients (EXCEPT cornstarch, water & sour cream), mixing well. Bring to boil, then reduce heat simmering on med/low for about an hour stirring occasionally (mixture should be reduced by about 1/4). Put lid on pan and continue simmering slowly for about another hour stirring occasionally until meat is tender. Turn pan up to medium high and mixture is boiling.
  • Step 3
Mix cornstarch and water (I use about 3 Tablespoons cornstarch to a couple of tablespoons of water ) until no lumps remain. Pour mixture into meat stirring constantly. When mixture thickens add sour cream, stirring until combined and turn off heat. Taste & adjust seasonings if necessary. Serve over, potatoes, pasta, or rice.
