Ingredients

  • INGREDIENTS FOR STEW
  • 1 large dinty moore beef stew, canned
  • 1 can carrots, canned (drained)
  • 1/2 bag green peas, frozen
  • 2 cans water, use beef stew cans
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce or
  • 1/2 teaspoon kitchen bouquet
  • 1 teaspoon basil, dried
  • 1 large bay leaf, dried
  • 1 medium onion, rough chopped
  • 1 can potatoes, dice bite size
  • INGREDIENTS FOR DUMPLINGS
  • 2 cups flour, ap
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup water, as needed to fill cup of lightly beaten egg

How To Make beef stewed dumplings

  • Step 1
    DUMPLING DIRECTIONS
  • Step 2
    Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder. Break egg into a standard measuring cup and beat lightly with a fork. Add water to the egg to measure 1 cup. Add to dry ingredients and use fork to mix well.
  • Step 3
    Let dough stand while combining stew ingredients in large dutch oven or pot with tight fitting cover (allow dough to raise at least 5 minutes).
  • Step 4
    Drop raised dough by teaspoonfuls into gently bubbling liquid.
  • Step 5
    Cover and continue to boil 20 minutes. DO NOT RAISE LID DURING 20 MINUTES NEEDED TO COOK DUMPLINGS! Remove from heat to trivet and remove lid. Use ladle to serve, being sure to get both stew and dumplings. Enjoy :)
