  • INGREDIENTS FOR STEW

  • 1 large
    dinty moore beef stew, canned
  • 1 can(s)
    carrots, canned (drained)
  • 1/2 bag(s)
    green peas, frozen
  • 2 can(s)
    water, use beef stew cans
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce or
  • 1/2 tsp
    kitchen bouquet
  • 1 tsp
    basil, dried
  • 1 large
    bay leaf, dried
  • 1 medium
    onion, rough chopped
  • 1 can(s)
    potatoes, dice bite size
  • INGREDIENTS FOR DUMPLINGS

  • 2 c
    flour, ap
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 large
    egg
  • 1 c
    water, as needed to fill cup of lightly beaten egg

How to Make Beef Stewed Dumplings

Step-by-Step

  1. DUMPLING DIRECTIONS
  2. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder. Break egg into a standard measuring cup and beat lightly with a fork. Add water to the egg to measure 1 cup. Add to dry ingredients and use fork to mix well.
  3. Let dough stand while combining stew ingredients in large dutch oven or pot with tight fitting cover (allow dough to raise at least 5 minutes).
  4. Drop raised dough by teaspoonfuls into gently bubbling liquid.
  5. Cover and continue to boil 20 minutes. DO NOT RAISE LID DURING 20 MINUTES NEEDED TO COOK DUMPLINGS! Remove from heat to trivet and remove lid. Use ladle to serve, being sure to get both stew and dumplings. Enjoy :)
