Ingredients

  • 5 slice
    bacon
  • 2 lb
    lean stew beef cut into 1in. cubes
  • 2
    onions finely chopped
  • 5
    cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    caraway seeds
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cracked black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    gin
  • 1 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    dry white wine
  • 1/2 c
    undiluted condensed beef broth
  • 4 c
    drained and rinsed sauerkraut
  • 1 lb
    kielbasa sausage cut into 1/4in. slices

    sour cream

How to Make BEEF STEW WITH SAUERKRAUT AND SAUSAGE

Step-by-Step

  1. in skillet cook bacon over med-high heat until crisp. lay on paper towel. crumble and set aside. drain all but 2 tbls. from pan.
  2. add beef in batches to brown, transfer to slow cooker with a slotted spoon.
  3. reduce heat to medium. add onions and cook and stir until soft. Add garlic, caraway seeds, salt, pepper,and bacon. cook stirring for 1 minute.sprinkle flour over mixture and cook, stirring another minute. add gin, wine and beef broth cook, stirring until mixture thickens. stir in sauerkraut.
  4. add mixtur to slow cooker, stir until all combined. cook on low 8-10 hours or high 4-5 hours or beef is tender. stir in sausage and cook on high 15 minuted or sausage is heated through. top servings with a dollip of sour cream.
