5 slice
bacon
2 lb
lean stew beef cut into 1in. cubes
2
onions finely chopped
5
cloves of garlic minced
1 Tbsp
caraway seeds
1 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
cracked black pepper
2 Tbsp
gin
1 Tbsp
all purpose flour
1 c
dry white wine
1/2 c
undiluted condensed beef broth
4 c
drained and rinsed sauerkraut
1 lb
kielbasa sausage cut into 1/4in. slices
sour cream

How to Make BEEF STEW WITH SAUERKRAUT AND SAUSAGE

Step-by-Step

  • 1in skillet cook bacon over med-high heat until crisp. lay on paper towel. crumble and set aside. drain all but 2 tbls. from pan.
  • 2add beef in batches to brown, transfer to slow cooker with a slotted spoon.
  • 3reduce heat to medium. add onions and cook and stir until soft. Add garlic, caraway seeds, salt, pepper,and bacon. cook stirring for 1 minute.sprinkle flour over mixture and cook, stirring another minute. add gin, wine and beef broth cook, stirring until mixture thickens. stir in sauerkraut.
  • 4add mixtur to slow cooker, stir until all combined. cook on low 8-10 hours or high 4-5 hours or beef is tender. stir in sausage and cook on high 15 minuted or sausage is heated through. top servings with a dollip of sour cream.
