beef stew meat
2 Tbsp
shortening
1 tsp
worcestershire sauce
1 tsp
garlic powder
1 medium
onion (chopped)
1/4 tsp
marjoram
1 Tbsp
salt
1 tsp
sugar
1/2 tsp
paprika
1/4 tsp
pepper
1/8 tsp
cloves
6
carrots,(cubed to bitesize)
6
potatoes (cubed to bitesize)
6
onions (cubed to bitesize)
2 c
hot water
1/3 c
cold water and 3 tlbs flour (to make thickener)

How to Make Beef Stew

Step-by-Step

  • 1Brown meat in shortening.
    Add 2 cups hot water.
  • 2Add seasonings, and chopped onion.
    Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
  • 3Add cubed vegetables.
    Cover and cook 30-40 minutes.
  • 4Make thickener with 1/3C cold water and 3 tlbs flour.
    Stir into stew.
