I love this recipe and with cold weather not so far away, I'll be making it soon.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1/4 teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 6 - carrots,(cubed to bitesize)
  • 6 - potatoes (cubed to bitesize)
  • 6 - onions (cubed to bitesize)
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1/3 cup cold water and 3 tlbs flour (to make thickener)

How To Make beef stew

  • Step 1
    Brown meat in shortening. Add 2 cups hot water.
  • Step 2
    Add seasonings, and chopped onion. Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
  • Step 3
    Add cubed vegetables. Cover and cook 30-40 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Make thickener with 1/3C cold water and 3 tlbs flour. Stir into stew.
