Thick, rich, delicious beef short ribs. I created this one for my husband who enjoys beef, mushrooms and Italian food. He loves it, I hope you will too.

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds beef short ribs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 pound fresh portabello mushrooms cleaned stems trimmed
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce(homemade or store bought)
  • 1 cup dry wine
  • 4 - italian sausage cooked an cut into one inch pieces

How To Make beef short ribs ala italiano

  • Step 1
    Melt Butter and Coconut Oil in a large dutch oven. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees
  • Step 2
    Put flour and seasoned salt in a plastic bag. Add each short rib shake to coat and add to pan to brown. Put 4-5 pieces at a time, don't overcrowd the pan. After browning on all sides remove. Do the same until all the ribs are browned. Set aside on plate.
  • Step 3
    Add onion to pan and sauté until brown. Then add mushrooms and garlic continue cooking stirring frequently until all are partially cooked about 3-5 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add Marinara sauce, wine, and pepper. Continue cooking another 5 minutes. Add a cup of water, stir to combine.
  • Step 5
    Add short Ribs and Italian sausage. Cover dutch oven and put in oven for 3 hours. Check half way through to be sure there is enough liquid. The liquid should be thick and reduced after 3 hours.
  • Step 6
    Spoon over fettuccini. Serve with a salad, a loaf of crusty bread,a good red wine and some one you love. A very tasty meal.
