Ingredients

  • 8 ounces spaghetti, cooked
  • - salt to taste
  • 1 - clove garlic, minced
  • 1 - green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon oregano, fresh chopped
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 pound provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 16 ounces spaghetti sauce

How To Make beef patties italian-style

  • Step 1
    Shape ground beef into 4 oval patties about 1/2-inch thick.
  • Step 2
    In large skillet, fry patties until browned on both sides.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle with salt.
  • Step 4
    Remove patties to platter.
  • Step 5
    Add onion to drippings in pan and cook until tender.
  • Step 6
    Add garlic, mushrooms and peppers.
  • Step 7
    Cook until tender crisp.
  • Step 8
    Drain off fat.
  • Step 9
    Stir the oregano and spaghetti sauce into vegetables and heat to boiling.
  • Step 10
    Simmer for 1 minute.

    Return beef patties to skillet.
  • Step 12
    Top each with a cheese slice and heat through.
  • Step 13
    Drain spaghetti place on plate.
  • Step 14
    With pancake turner, transfer patties and sauce over spaghetti.
  • Step 15
    Garnish with fresh oregano, if desired.

    SERVES 4.
