I got this recipe from a guy I worked with many years ago. It's one of our family favorites.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c
    shortening
  • 2 lb
    lean beef chuck, trimmed & cut into 1 inch squares
  • 1 c
    onion, chopped
  • 1 clove
    garlic
  • 3/4 c
    ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    mustard powder
  • 2 tsp
    paprika
  • 1 1/2 c
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 1 dash(es)
    cayenne pepper

How to Make Beef Paprika

Step-by-Step

  1. Melt Shortening in large skillet over medium heat. Add meat, onion, and garlic. Cook and stir until meat is browned.
  2. Stir in ketchup, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, paprika, mustard, cayenne and 1 1/2 cup water. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
  3. Blend flour and 1/4 cup cold water. Stir into meat. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Service over noodles.
