beef & broccoli
My family has been eating my Beef & Broccoli for close to 30 years! It's easy AND healthy! Now-a-days the ingredients are readily available in the grocery store. Serve over steamed rice.

Ingredients
- MARINADE FOR BEEF
- 1/2-1 tablespoon garlic-minced (less if you don't like garlic)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce, dark
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- MEAT AND VEG
- - non-stick spray or 2 tsp cooking oil
- 1 pound lean top sirloin -roast or steak sliced across the grain thinly
- 16 ounces broccoli florets-cooked for 2 minutes (i use steamable bags)
- 1/2 small yellow onion cut in half and then thinly sliced
- SAUCE INGREDIENTS
- 1/3 cup oyster sauce
- 3/4 cup chicken broth(i use fat free, lower sodium)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
How To Make beef & broccoli

Step 1PREPARE MEAT: Sprinkle meat with cornstarch, stir to mix into the meat. Add the dark soy, sugar and sesame oil, stirring to combine. Set aside and marinate for 15-30 minutes while preparing the dish.

Step 2Stir together the oyster sauce, chicken broth and cornstarch. Set aside.

Step 3Cook the broccoli for 2 minutes. Allow to cool while proceeding with the recipe.

Step 4Heat a non stick skillet over medium heat, spray with non stick spray or use cooking oil. Cook onions until translucent.

Step 5Increase heat to medium high. Add meat, cook stirring until most of the pink is gone.

Step 6Add the sauce mixture, and bring to a quick boil stirring gently. If "gravy" isn't thick enough, mix a slurry of 1/4c broth and 1 TBSP cornstarch, stir it in and bring back to a boil again.

Step 7Add par cooked broccoli and stir gently. continue cooking for 1-2 minutes.

Step 8Turn off heat and serve over hot rice.
