Ingredients

  • 4 pounds beef brisket
  • - hot water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 quart sauerkraut
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 - potato, grated
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds

How To Make beef brisket and sauerkraut

  • Step 1
    Cover brisket with water; season.
  • Step 2
    Simmer for 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours.
  • Step 3
    Add sauerkraut, vinegar and brown sugar.
  • Step 4
    Cook 1 hour longer.
  • Step 5
    Add potato and caraway seed.
  • Step 6
    Cook 10 minutes longer.
  • Step 7
    Yeild 6 to 8 servings.
