Ingredients
- 1 pound beef sirloin steak, boneless
- 2 bunches brocolli
- 1 large onion
- 1 pint fresh mushrooms
- 1 can water chestnuts
- 1 teaspoon chinese five spice powder
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon beef boullion or instant beef broth
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- - cooked rice, chowmien noodles, or cooked lomien noodles, or cooked spaghetti
How To Make beef and brocolli stir-fry

Step 1Trim fat from beef and slice into 2 inch strips

Step 2Coat beef with 1 tablespoon of Soy sauce and let set 30 minutes while prepping vegetables

Step 3Peel onion and cut in thin wedges.

Step 4Trim bottom 3 inches or so of solid stem off of broccoli. Cut apart broccoli head into 2 inch strips.

Step 5Wash and slice mushrooms.

Step 6Heat peanut oil in Wok or heavy skillet, add chopped garlic, and Chinese 5 spice.

Step 7Add beef and stir-fry.

Step 8When beef is done move to edges of pan and add vegetables, onion, mushrooms, and broccoli and stir fry until tender.

Step 9Place cornstarch in a 2 cup measuring cup, add 2 cups COLD water, stir well until cornstarch is dissolved, add to this beef bullion,and remaining soy sauce.

Step 10Slowly add liquid mixture to vegetables and meat. Bring to a simmer and cook stirring gently until sauce forms and thickens.

Step 11Serve over rice, chow-mien noodles, or soft lo-mien noodles.
