My sister gave me this recipe. It makes a great reunion recipe as it makes enough for 24 sandwiches and can be kept warm on low in a crock pot.

Ingredients For bbq'd beef in a bun

  • boneless 4 lb chuck roast
  • 4 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground pepper
  • 1/3 c
    apple cider vinegar
  • 2 c
    ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 24
    hamburger buns

How To Make bbq'd beef in a bun

    Bring chuck roast to a boil in water. Cover and simmer 2 to 3 hrs until tender.

    Drain, reserving 3 cups of the liquid. Shred beef and return to kettle.

    Add brown sugar, dry mustard, pepper, vinegar, ketchup, and worcestershire sauce along with the 3 cups reserved liquid. Simmer 20 to 25 min. Serve on buns.
