This is a really good recipe that my mom gave me many years ago.

It stretches pretty far and feeds about 8-10 (maybe more, so you decide) depending on how much you pile on the bun.

It's good for big families, company or sharing with a neighbor.

Serve with a side of tuna or potato salad and chips or beans to complete your meal.

We like hot banana pepper rings on ours and you might even like mustard or dill relish.

This also freezes well and you might want to make up several seving containers for your convenience.

I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does. :)

How to Make BBQ Shredded Beef

Step-by-Step

  1. Trim 4-5 pounds of English chuck roast. Cut slits in meat and put in a roasting pan with a cover.
  2. In a medium bowl mix together the ketchup, dry onion soup mix and Coke with a wisk and pour over meat in roasting pan.
  3. Cook in a 375* oven for about 5 hours. You can check to see if it will start to shred with 2 forks after 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Shred, stir around, cover and cook for about 1/2 hour longer.
