First and foremost, I am not a "BBQ Maven" so I'm sure this recipe may seem blasphemous to the BBQ purists. This recipe is just a simple one that my kids absolutely love as the meat just falls off the bone.

Ingredients

  • RIBS
  • 8-10 - beef short ribs
  • 1 - bay leaf
  • - water
  • BBQ SAUCE
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard, spicy brown
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • - hot sauce, to taste

How To Make bbq beef short ribs

  • Step 1
    Trim any excess fat and silvery membranes from the ribs.
  • Step 2
    In a large dutch oven, heat 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and slightly sear the ribs, working a few at a time.
  • Step 3
    Next, add all the ribs to the dutch oven, cover with water and add the bay leaf.
  • Step 4
    Bring to a boil. Then lower the heat, cover the pan and simmer for 1 - 1 1/2 hours until the meat is super tender.
  • Step 5
    To make the BBQ sauce, combine at the sauce ingredients except the hot sauce and mix well until thoroughly incorporated. Add hot sauce to taste.
  • Step 6
    Remove the ribs from the dutch oven and place in a baking tray. Slather them with the BBQ sauce and put them under the broiler (set to broil) for 3-5 minutes.
