These are so good , there is nothing better than making your own corn dog and the kids love them.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 1 - egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 8-12 - frankfurters
  • - vegetable oil for frying

How To Make battered franks

  • Step 1
    Sift together : flour , baking powder , salt ; Mix in cornmeal.
  • Step 2
    Cut in shortening ; add egg and milk ; stir until blended.
  • Step 3
    Heat vegetable oil up to 365° in deep fat fryer or a large pot.
  • Step 4
    Insert a wooden skewer in the end of each Frankfurter if desired.
  • Step 5
    Dip frankfurters in batter , 1 at a time.
  • Step 6
    Place dipped frankfurter in hot oil , fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  • Step 7
    Place on paper towel to absorb extra oil.
