    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • 2 Tbsp

    vegetable oil for frying

How to Make Battered Franks


  1. Sift together : flour , baking powder , salt ; Mix in cornmeal.
  2. Cut in shortening ; add egg and milk ; stir until blended.
  3. Heat vegetable oil up to 365° in deep fat fryer or a large pot.
  4. Insert a wooden skewer in the end of each Frankfurter if desired.
  5. Dip frankfurters in batter , 1 at a time.
  6. Place dipped frankfurter in hot oil , fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  7. Place on paper towel to absorb extra oil.
