Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons cornmeal
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 1 - egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 8-12 - frankfurters
- - vegetable oil for frying
How To Make battered franks

Step 1Sift together : flour , baking powder , salt ; Mix in cornmeal.

Step 2Cut in shortening ; add egg and milk ; stir until blended.

Step 3Heat vegetable oil up to 365° in deep fat fryer or a large pot.

Step 4Insert a wooden skewer in the end of each Frankfurter if desired.

Step 5Dip frankfurters in batter , 1 at a time.

Step 6Place dipped frankfurter in hot oil , fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.

Step 7Place on paper towel to absorb extra oil.
