How To Make bates motel meatloaf

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 350º Peel and quarter onion, place pieces in food processor Remove stems, veins & seeds from bell peppers, cut into quarters & add to food processor Cut celery ribs into 2" lengths and add to food processor Pulse together until finely minced. Leave in processor bowl for now.
  • Step 2
Place crushed crackers in large mixing bowl. Lightly beat egg, add milk and 1 can of tomato sauce and mix together Add to crackers and stir rogether. Allow to set for a few minutes so crackers will absorb liquid. Add more milk if too dry
  • Step 3
Pour vegetables from food processor into cracker mix Add salt, pepper and chili mix and blend together ***NOTE: You can use your preferred blend of chili seasoning in place of my homemade mix.
  • Step 4
Add meat to cracker mixture With hands, mix meat and crumb mixture together, making sure veggies and crumb mix are spread evenly throughout the meat Form into a loaf shape and place in baking dish (I use my large cast iron skillet) Slowly pour the remaining can of tomato sauce over the entire loaf
  • Step 5
Place baking dish in oven on middle rack and cook for 30 minutes After 30 minutes, turn heat to 400º and cook for another 10-15 minutes to brown. Remove from oven and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes before plating
