How to Make Barbecued Beef (Korean Bul Kogi)


  • 1Slice the steak very thin on the bias.
  • 2Score each piece with an X.
  • 3Chop the scallions and crush the garlic.
  • 4Combine these ingredients with the remaining seasonings in a bowl.
  • 5Add the meat to the marinade and mix well until all sides of the steak are coated.
  • 6The meat may be grilled immediately.
  • 7The best results are obtained if the steak is marinated for 2 hours.
  • 8The marinade will keep overnight.
  • 9Variation: Use rib steak or flank steak.
  • 10Bul Kogi is so popular that many Koreans consider it the national meat dish.
  • 11Serve with rice and kimchi.
