Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • - black pepper, coarsely ground
  • 1/2 pound beef brisket
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 5 - carrots, cut into 1" slices
  • 5 - potatoes, unpeeled quartered
  • - salt to taste
  • - pepper to taste

How To Make barbecued beef brisket

  • Step 1
    Combine ketchup, water, onion, vinegar, horseradish, mustard and pepper.
  • Step 2
    Place brisket in a shallow glass baking dish.
  • Step 3
    Pour marinade over; cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Step 4
    Heat oven to 350.
  • Step 5
    Scatter onions on top of meat.
  • Step 6
    Cover and bake 2 1/2 hours.
  • Step 7
    Add carrots and potatoes; cover and continue baking until meat and vegetables are tender, about 1 hour.
  • Step 8
    Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 9
    Cut meat into thin slices.
  • Step 10
    Use the pan juices as sauce.
