I'm sorry to see it go!  

A train station bought the property, so that whole strip mall was being torn down.  Since Old Man Lee & Mrs. Lee have passed on, the rest of the Lee family thought it was time to move on....  :(

One of my favorite from Lang Lee's II in Orland Park, IL. This is not their recipe, but close to it.

Ingredients For bali maki (oriental beef sticks)

  • 1/2 c
    plum sauce
  • 2 tsp
    soy sauce, low sodium
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp
    ginger powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    chili pepper, minced
  • 1 1/2 lb
    lean beef strips
  • 8 - 12
    skewers, soaked in oil

How To Make bali maki (oriental beef sticks)

    Combine all ingredients (except beef & skewers); mix well.

    In a large ziplock bag, marinade beef strips in mixture for at least 3 hours for flavors to marry.

    Prepare a fire in a grill to a high heat.
  • 4
    Push beef strips onto 8 - 12 oiled bamboo skewers. Reserve marinade.

    Brush marinade over meat. Cook skewers for 3 - 4 minutes, flip & cook skewers for 3 - 4 minutes each side, brushing repeatedly with the marinade. Discard any left over marinade.
