Ingredients

  • 2 pounds round steak, 1 inch thick
  • - flour
  • 1 - green bell pepper
  • 4 - celery stalks
  • 3 large carrots
  • 28 ounces tomatoes
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make baked swiss steak

  • Step 1
    Roll meat in flour and brown in fat in skillet.
  • Step 2
    Place in a large, deep baking dish.
  • Step 3
    Cut onion, pepper, celery and carrots in large pieces and add to the meat.
  • Step 4
    Mix remaining ingredients and pour over the meat.
  • Step 5
    Bake, covered, for 2 or more hours at 325, until tender.
  • Step 6
    Serves 6 to 8.
