Add to Grocery List

  • 4 to 5 lb
beef brisket flat cut if possible
  • 1 medium
    yellow or red onion
  • 1 medium
    bell pepper
  • 1 - 14 oz can(s)
    beef broth
  • 1/2 c
    canola or vegetable oil

How to Make Baked Beef Brisket

  1. Preheat oven to 350. While oven is preheating lightly brown the brisket on both sides in oil in a large fry pan.
  2. Transfer brisket into a 9"x13" 4 quart glass baking dish. Pour beef broth into the dish.
  3. Slice onion and bell pepper and arrange on the top and around the brisket. Tent the pan with foil and bake at 350 until tender about 3 to 4 hours. If the liquid cooks out add more, however it should not since the baking dish is covered.
  4. Use drippings to make gravy if desired. This roast is always a huge hit at my house! I serve it with crock pot mashed potatoes and other side dishes. Enjoy!
