My kids loved watching "The Cosby Show" episodes a few years ago. My son wanted to try Cliff and Theo Huxtable's Bacon Burger Dogs. I came up with these. Just a fun food for our family!

[To improve the healthfulness, I used natural, lean meat products, and served it with Roasted Kale Chips and mixed fresh berries. The kids prefer beef hot dogs and no kale chips.:)]

1/8-1/4 tsp
garlic powder or one clove fresh garlic
1/4 tsp
salt
1/4 tsp
black pepper
1/8-1/4 tsp

6-8
hot dogs
6-16
natural bacon slices (1-2 slices per b.b.dog)
1/2 c
barbecue sauce (your favorite)
6-8
hot dog buns or steak rolls
cheddar cheese and/or condiments of your choice

How to Make Bacon Burger Dogs (Cliff and Theo's Famous)

Step-by-Step

  • 1Blend first 7 ingredients by kneading them together.
  • 2Using a bit more than 1/2 cup of the beef mixture, patted into a rectangle, wrap each hot dog. Cover it completely so that it looks like a cylinder.
  • 3Wrap bacon around the outside of the burger dog. If using thinly sliced bacon, I would recommend using two slices.
  • 4Grill the bacon burger dogs until the beef mixture is thoroughly cooked (well done). Be careful to turn them and cook well on all sides.
  • 5When cooked completely, brush with bbq sauce to your taste.
  • 6Serve on buns or rolls with extra bbq sauce, a slice of cheddar cheese, or other condiments of your choosing.
  • 7Enjoy!
