bacon burger dogs
My kids loved watching "The Cosby Show" episodes years ago. My son wanted to try Cliff and Theo Huxtable's Bacon Burger Dogs. I came up with these. Just a fun food for our family! [To improve the healthfulness, I used natural, lean meat products, and served it with Roasted Kale Chips and mixed fresh berries. The kids prefer beef hot dogs and no kale chips.:)]

Ingredients
- 2 pounds extra lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup onions finely chopped or 1 tablespoon onion flakes
- 1 - large egg
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1/8-1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or one clove fresh garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/8-1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional-most of my family does not like spicy!)
- 6-8 - hot dogs
- 6-16 - natural bacon slices (1-2 slices per b.b.dog)
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite)
- 6-8 - hot dog buns or steak rolls
- - cheddar cheese and/or condiments of your choice
How To Make bacon burger dogs
-
Step 1Blend first 7 ingredients by kneading them together.
-
Step 2Using a bit more than 1/2 cup of the beef mixture, patted into a rectangle, wrap each hot dog. Cover it completely so that it looks like a cylinder.
-
Step 3Wrap bacon around the outside of the burger dog. If using thinly sliced bacon, I would recommend using two slices.
-
Step 4Grill the bacon burger dogs until the beef mixture is thoroughly cooked (well done). Be careful to turn them and cook well on all sides.
-
Step 5When cooked completely, brush with bbq sauce to your taste.
-
Step 6Serve on buns or rolls with extra bbq sauce, a slice of cheddar cheese, or other condiments of your choosing.
-
Step 7Enjoy!
