awesome sloppy joes

This is a recipe I came up with while trying to come up with a tastier version of a sloppy joe. My kids love them but I just don't like the Manwich you buy that much. This is excellent. I've even used this as chili for hot dogs and for chili burgers. Hope you enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/4 pounds ground beef
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mccormick montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 small red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 jar tomato and basil pasta sauce (i use classico)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

How To Make awesome sloppy joes

  • Step 1
    Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil and meat to the the pan. Spread meat around to break it up.
  • Step 2
    Combine the brown sugar and steak seasoning in a small bowl and then add the sugar and spice mixture to the pan and combine with meat.
  • Step 3
    When the meat has browned, add the chopped onion and red peppers to the pan. Reduce heat to medium and add the red wine vinegar and worcestershire sauce.
  • Step 4
    Cook for 5 minutes then add the pasta sauce and tomato paste to the pan. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to simmer and cook mixture 5-10 minutes longer. Serve on toasted buns and enjoy. :)
