This is a very easy dish, it tastes like meatloaf over scalloped potatoes with very little effort. No need to pre-brown anything, just slice, chop, layer and bake. This serves the 8 of us, but I know my teenaged boys could demolish a whole pan if I let them. I'll try to get a better picture next time I make it.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ground beef
  • 2 cups potatoes, sliced
  • 2 cups celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup green peppers, diced
  • 2 cups canned diced tomatoes

How To Make amish layered dinner

  • Step 1
    Grease a 9x13 pan. Sprinkle each layer with salt and pepper before adding the next layer.
  • Step 2
    Place potatoes in the bottom of the casserole Add the layer of celery. Add the layer of hamburger
  • Step 3
    Add the layer of onions. Add the green pepper. Pour the tomatoes over the mixture.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 2 hours at 350 degrees F.
