dwayne's sweet & sour moose meat balls

This photo is of my youngest son Dwayne. This recipe was one that he cooked for me, when I visited him in Cody, WY. a few years ago. The recipe is very good. If you don't have moose...you can always substitute beef. The demium jacket he has on, I embellished a moose on the back just for him! This is the first time I ever attempted sewing with a fur fabric!. I think it turned out real nice. He wore it many times. With pride. He passed away 12 yrs ago in Aug. Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground moose meat........or beef
  • 1 - egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • - salt & pepper ...optional
  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch.....this will be divided

How To Make dwayne's sweet & sour moose meat balls

  • Step 1
    Combine meat, egg, 1 Tablespoon cornstarch,and onion. Shape mixture into balls. Brown evenly on all sides.... Set aside. Combine oil and pineapple juice; cook over low heat a few minutes.
  • Step 2
    Combine remaining cornstarch,soysauce ,vinegar,water and sugar, add to pineapple juice mixture. Cook until it thickens, stirring constantly. Add meatballs and serve hot. Can be served as an appitizer...or over fluffy rice.
