Adapted this recipe from one I saw in Woman's Day magazine. I have tried it with both beef and chicken. The guys liked beef the best while I prefer the chicken.It seems like a lot of ingredients but it is really not that bad!

hoisin sauce
flour tortillas
2 Tbsp
rice vinegar
1/2 tsp
crushed red pepper
2 Tbsp
soy ,light
2 tsp
soy sauce, light
1/2 small
cabbage,sliced thinly
1 medium
carrot,cut into matchsticks
2 Tbsp
1 Tbsp
cilantro, fresh chopped
1/2 tsp
1 tsp

How to Make Korean Style Tacos


  • 1Combine in a medium sized bowl carrots,cabbage,2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of vinegar,1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix thoroughly, cover and allow to rest in the refrigerator at least 2 hours.
  • 2Mix in small bowl brown sugar,garlic cloves, ginger and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Set aside.
  • 3Cook ground beef in skillet over medium heat until no longer pink.Transfer beef to a mesh strainer and rinse with cool water about 2 minutes to remove excess fat and grease(The rinsing step is optional and can be skipped. It is not needed if using ground chicken.)
  • 4Wipe out skillet used for cooking beef. Heat skillet on medium heat add the 1 tablespoon of oil, when warm stir in onion. Cook onion until soft, about 3-4 minutes. Return beef to skillet add brown sugar mixture and 2 tablespoons of hoisin sauce.Stir to combine and continue to heat until warmed.
  • 5Heat tortillas according to package instructions. Then divide beef evenly among the tortillas,top with cabbage and enjoy!
