2 ¼ cups granulated sugar
5 large eggs (at room temperature)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk* at room temperature (see notes)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons grated lemon zest, packed
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon water
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 oz. cream cheese ( softened to room temperature)
2 cups powdered sugar, (sifted)
3-4 tablespoons lemon juice
